Opened in July of 2008 in the emerging mountain town of Bend, Tetherow Golf Club is one of the area's newest golf courses and the centerpiece of a residential community. Designed by Scottish golf course architect David McLay Kidd, Tetherow takes on some Scottish heathland qualities, as it is seeded wall-to-wall with fescue turf and winds through rugged bunkers, knobs and knolls. The golf course tumbles up and down high desert hillsides and the photogenic 17th hole plays to a green that sits within old pumice quarry walls. "I hate the term 'signature hole,' but I don't mind the term 'cover girl,'" Kidd said of the remarkable 17th, which features a green that's just 2,500 square feet.
In the spirit of the game's traditions, each foursome is given a forecaddie at Tetherow Golf Club to help them make their way around the layout, which is no easy-to-navigate resort course. Rather, the course is a trek through the high desert and requires skill and savvy.

Every hole is a treat to just stand on the tee box. The further back that you play, the better the view. The greens are wild and undulating and because this is a links course they play just a bit slower.
Expensive to play but worth it. Last words of advice: play it now while there are still sparse houses on the course and STAY on the FAIRWAY!
